How To Write A Lucky 15 Betting Slip
Named “lucky 15” because its made up of 15 bets, and the lucky part from the fact highstreet bookmakers added bonuses for this bet for picking all 4 winners. A lucky 15 bet is a very popular choice in the UK and thousands are placed each and every week. Stakes vary from 10p lucky 15’s to much higher £100 ones coming to a whopping £1500. When I started writing, I didn’t think of myself as a writer. I doubted my skills. I didn’t know whether I had enough ideas. But every time I had to write an article, I learned more about writing. I followed my curiosity. I discovered what I’m passionate about, and I learned what resonated with my audience.
There can’t be many things better than placing an accumulator and waiting to see if you are going to strike gold. I bet most of us have even spent our winnings before the final whistle has been blown or the winning line has been crossed.
A Lucky 15 takes things to the next level: all of a sudden you’ve got 15 chances to win – and that is very exciting indeed (full bet explained here).
So… please feel free to read on and learn exactly how to place a Lucky 15 bet online.

Step 1 – Finding A Bookmaker & Logging In
Once your account is open, or if you already have one, get yourself logged in using your unique username and password (click here to log in now)
Step 2 – Choose Your Sport
Lucky 15 betting can be used on a whole bunch of sports – although it’s a particular favourite of football and horse racing punters around the globe.
Because you’re betting on winners, these are the currency of a Lucky 15, you need to think logically. Can I pick selections that offer a good balance between being a decent price and standing a good chance of winning?
For this reason, and for this guide, we’re going to have a go on the horses. So let’s navigate over to the left-hand menu bar and give it a click.
Step 3 – Pick Your Meeting
Next you will have to find your preferred horse racing meeting. You may have a specific meet in mind – maybe you’ve been given a few red-hot tips – or if not then simply plump for the one with a decent amount of back-to-back races on the card.
For this guide, we’re going to take a look at the meeting at Doncaster. So we click on the name and away we go.
Step 4 – Making Your Selections
As you know, a Lucky 15 needs four selections. Now, we can’t make your picks for you – although you can read our guide ‘How to Pick Horses for a Lucky 15‘ page – so this part will need a bit of work from you.
Anyway, you will be greeted with a list of runners and riders as per the screen grab.
Having studied the form guides, considered the conditions etc, we’ve decided to go for the favourite ‘Wanting’. We’ve clicked on the ‘Win/EW’ price to ensure that we can add this bet to our Lucky 15.
Now you will need to repeat this process until you have selected four horses, and these will be added to your bet slip on the right of your screen. You can add and remove horses from the bet slip, just use the ‘x’ next to their name, if you select the wrong horse or change your mind.

Step 5 – Place Lucky 15 Bet
Once you’ve added four selections to your bet slip, a whole host of betting options will be available to you.
You could place six doubles on the variety of outcome combinations, four trebles, one Yankee, a Lucky 15 or a Four-Fold. We’ve covered some of these bet types in more detail elsewhere, so for this guide we’re going to stick with our Lucky 15 pick.
So place your stake in the box next to it. Remember, you are placing 15 individual bets here, so your anticipated stake will be multiplied by 15. So, if your normal stake would be around the £1 mark, your total outlay on your Lucky 15 would be £15. Please do bear this in mind.
When you’re happy hit the green ‘Place Bet’ button and you’re good to go!
Step 6 – Cheer Your Horses/Teams Home
Now all you need to do is sit back, relax and watch your horses or teams come in. Of course, the real beauty of a Lucky 15 is that even if your first runner doesn’t win, then at least you have three more opportunities to yield some profit.
To make things even more interesting, if you are placing a Lucky 15 on the horses then you can always select to bet each way. This means that if your horse ‘places’, e.g. if they finish in the top two, three or four (it differs depending on the size of the field), then this will count as part of your accumulator.
Remember, you’re looking out for these combinations:
- Four Singles
- Six Doubles
- Four Trebles
- One Four-Fold
So if you’re first two horses come in then now’s the time to get very excited. And if they don’t then at least you have two more steeds that can save the day.
